Kid Town Week!

Image
Happy Friday! What a fantastic week we have had in second grade! Kid Town has been a success and the students have enjoyed it immensely! We have seen wonderful examples of generous spirits and students who are polite and caring business boys/girls, and they have also been wonderful shoppers with a lot of patience. They have had a ton of fun learning about businesses and economics! Thanks so much to all the parent helpers who came in and were a banker so kids could get paid, glued items together, helped with ideas, ran stores, and helped us pack things up!! We could not have done it without all of you!!!! Your support is appreciated and we are so thankful for the wonderful, supportive community here at South Side!   Homework: Reading slips and math pages are coming home on Monday May 4. They will be due Monday, May 11. We will have our test on May 7 for the last 15 words. Please practice any words your child may have trouble spelling. Creat week for Kid Town!

It's here and it's in action! Kid Town "creating" has been a hit this week! It's been so fun to see the students use their God-given gifts and talents to make and create things. What imaginations they have! We've been working hard to create things for the "Trash for Cash" store, handing in homework to receive money, and today the students even had the opportunity to tithe from their own wallets! We are once again reminded why this is such a great couple of weeks in our Christ-centered school! It is such a neat teaching experience!   Homework Reminders: A new packet of special Kid Town homework is coming home today. NOTE THAT ALL KID TOWN HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL, but will be a big part of your child's "income." It will work the same as last week SO PLEASE SAVE THE BIBLE MEMORY PAGE (new verses are on the back). Bible memory verses will stop after Tuesday and your child will only need to hand in the reading/math half sheets. * Our new Bible ...

Welcome Back! We are so thankful for God's provision for all of us over Spring Break! It's been so fun to hear about all the different adventures that we had over break! God is good! Happy Easter to all of you! Our God is so amazing and we have spent time this week looking at how much Jesus loved us and we have finished up our Easter stories. Our Field trip to Hand2Hand was a huge success! The kids were great listeners and workers. We heard about how Hand2Hand helps students who don't have enough food over the weekend and they help 10,500 students each week! What a blessing they are to the schools, the students, and their families! Our kids worked on packing the snack packs that are handed out each week to kids. They packed 1152 packs! The volunteers at Hand2Hand were impressed with how well they worked! I was very proud of the 2nd graders and the heart they had to help! They were a great example of Servant Living and they learned they can make a difference for God's ki...

It was a so great to see some of the students last night for conferences! They did an amazing job! Nothing to be nervous about! We are continuing to dig into our Holy Week stories. We saw how Jesus showed his disciples how to serve one another and to take care of each other, we saw how he changed the passover to the Lord's Supper, and how he gave his disciples promises of the Holy Spirit and that he prepares a place for us in heaven. Amazing! Homework: Current math and reading slips are due on Monday, Mar. 30! No Math or Reading Homework next week! We will resume after spring break. *Matthew 28. Keep practicing this beautiful passage as a family! Kid Town: There is a green sheet in your child's Friday Folder with some of the first information about Kid Town!   Tulip Time As signs of spring are appearing, we are looking ahead to Tulip Time! First and second grade students will be marching with our school. Students have two options of groups to participate in. Please  fill ...
