Beach Day

Thank you! I am so thankful for your love and support during this year! Your encouragement has blessed me so much...thank you. Thanks too, for entrusting your children under my care...they have been a joy to teach!

Fun Day at the beach! Y5-2nd

This will be the last blog update for the school year! I might just post some end of the year pictures on the last day! We had fun at Dutch Village and Windmill Island Tuesday and the beach on Wednesday, check out the pictures at the end of the blog.

Homework:

We are all done for the year!

Keep using Galatians 5 for a devotion this month!

I have a summer packet that will be coming home that last week of school. Feel free to use it to keep up on skills your child may need to practice. Consider a tutor if your child has struggled in math or reading this year, or if they need to keep up on skills! When I have a link for available tutors I will send it out!

Make sure all library books are returned! We need to have them inventoried and then ready to pack for the big move!

Students should bring a large shopping bag by June 1, as we will clean out our desks and lockers and send home a lot of our stuff. We will keep a pencil box and a couple of things for the day on Tuesday June 2.

Moving Up Day:

Monday, June 1 will be a special day in 2nd grade. It's MOVING UP DAY! This means that your child will get an opportunity to visit Pine Ridge, meet next year's 3rd grade teacher, and go on a school tour. This has always been a great experience in the past, and it helps settle the nervous butterflies that students may have about the changes to a new building. I'm sure you'll hear lots of great stories about the students' visit!

End of Year Chapel and Groundbreaking:

Save the date! We will have a special end of the year Chapel to send off our 2nd graders on the last day of school,  and celebrate the groundbreaking of the South Side Renovation Wednesday, June 3. Come gather with us from 10:15-11:15am for a time of worship together. We’ll be out on the playground, so bring a lawn chair if you’d like (if there’s rain we’ll move it to the gym).  After chapel, all students will be dismissed and there will be a time for refreshments on the playground.

Bring a helmet!
With the weather turning nice, we are adding some balance bikes to our playground for a few days. These will be supervised and will only be available to students who bring a helmet. If your child would like to take a turn on our balance bikes, please send them with a helmet on one or more of the following dates. You must have their name or your family last name written clearly on the helmet so we don't get them mixed up.

Renovation, Next Year, and Help Needed
We are getting so excited for our renovation project next year at South Side. In preparation, we are packing up the building and getting ready to move to a temporary location during construction. Read all about the renovation and our temporary location here.
Many families have asked how they can help. We will need a lot of volunteers to make this transition successful. Please check out our Moving South Side Sign Up for opportunities to help!

End of the Year Chapel and Groundbreaking Ceremony
Come join us! We will have a special end-of-the-year chapel on Wednesday June 3 from 10:15-11:15. We will be sending off our 2nd graders and celebrating/praying for the soon to start construction project at South Side. We’ll be out on the playground, so bring a lawn chair if you’d like (if there’s rain we’ll move it to the gym). After chapel, students will be dismissed and there will be refreshments on the playground your family can stay to enjoy.

A great week in 2nd grade! We continue to wrap up some things and continue to learn new things each day! The students can feel summer break is close! Thanks for sharing your child each day! We have had a great time with swimming lessons! The kids keep growing and improving their swimming skills!  Some pics from our fun day at the end.

We will head to Dutch Village for a tour, Dutch dancing, and some free time in the park. Students should wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Students will need a sack/home lunch as well. We could use a few parents to go along on our trip. Parents will have to pay the park fee of $13 to go along. Sign up below if you are able to come with us! Turn in your money ASAP if you have not done so! I could use 1 more parent to go along if you are able!
