We are in awe of God's faithfulness to His people despite their unfaithfulness to Him. What a beautiful reminder that our God who changes the seasons also holds each of us gently in His hands. We had a great time at the Walk-a-thon! Thanks to all the parents who helped out to make it a huge success! We had fun but rainy time at the ODC and learned a lot about plants and how they move! Homework:

Homework Folders came home on Monday, Sept. 23 and the work inside is due on Monday, Sept. 30. 
Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.  
Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.

Psalm 23 will be coming home in your child's Homework folder on Monday. This copy is for your fridge!

Library books due on Wednesdays!

Help Wanted: Rose Park is seeking a nurturing and caring part-time aide for our After School Care program. Our after school program runs from 3-5:30 Monday - Friday and we would love to have you join our team. 18+ years of age.  2nd graders are full of wonder! We have been learning abut seeds and what a plant needs! God has created some amazing plants and they are so unique and special just like each of the students in my class! We have had fun learning about some cool plants and we started some investigations into what plants need!

Here's what you need to know!

Homework:

Homework Folders came home on Monday, Sept. 16 and the work inside is due on Monday, Sept. 23. 
Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.  
Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.

Keep practicing Psalm 8, we have been learning the first 8 verses at school.

Library books due on Wednesdays!

Field Trip:
We will be heading to the ODC on Sept. 24 to learn about how seeds travel and will visit some animals. Students will need a lunch from home as we will be there all day. Please dress for the weather as we will go rain or shine!


Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Coral was our Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with the class. We enjoyed getting to know more about you! We learned that you like to ride your bike and go camping. Your favorite food is pizza. Your favorite place is the U.P. and you want to be a pop star when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Coral, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

Full Week of School

It's been such a joy this week to watch the students dig deeper into some of the Old Testament Bible stories and they have loved making connections of how God used these events in each person's life to keep his covenant with his people.

Picture Day will be Wednesday, Sept. 18. IF YOU WANT A YEARBOOK, NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO ORDER IT! We need you to return the picture order forms even if you aren't ordering anything, and even if you are ordering online, as our photo company needs the paperwork for each student. Thanks!

Walkathon

What is Walkathon? Walkathon is an HC-wide fundraiser where elementary students walk to raise money for their school. The funds raised by South Side students go directly to South Side needs. These needs include classroom supplies, educational outings, and other resources. Parents are welcome to watch the event from the bleachers, while the track is reserved for teachers and students.

Walkathon forms will be sent home in your child’s backpack soon and are due back by Wednesday, September 18. The Walkathon event will take place at 1:00 on Wednesday, September 25.

We have lots going on in each subject area, and have enjoyed learning about God and learning about how to live a life full of wisdom from James in Bible. The students have enjoyed the discussions we have had in Bible!
