Christmas isn't about "hoping" for certain gifts and presents, but about a promised hope in our Savior. Our God always keeps His promises, and He is faithful! What a comfort that is! As a class we are taking time to slow down, and to reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness.  We have started to work through our "Jesse Tree" devotional each day and are gaining a better understanding of what Christmas is all about...JESUS!

HOMEWORK:

Next week we'll stick with the usual: *Purple Reading Slip and Math homework will be due Monday. New pages will come home on Monday(Dec. 5) and be due Monday, December 12.

*Library books are due Monday.

*Blue half sheet coming home Monday with the first 3 words of our 3rd set.

does, friend, enough

BIBLE MEMORY:

Bible Memory is coming home today. Please work on it this month--it's the Christmas Story! We are practicing it daily at school, but please try to review it at home as well. Use it for devotions and other special occasions to reflect on this amazing story! We have made it through verses 6 & 7 so far this week.

Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Marina was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with our class. We enjoyed getting to know you and learning that you love crafts, cartwheels, and dancing! Your favorite place is Florida, and your favorite foods are cinnamon rolls, pizza, and macaroni and cheese! We love that you want to be a ballerina when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Marina, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

WORDS OF THE WEEK:

Thanks for helping your child practice their words at home!

We'll start our new batch next week with: does, friend, enough

There is a blue half sheet coming home in your child's Homework folder so you can remember to practice these words at home too.

Class Christmas Party:

I am looking for some volunteers plan/help with our class Christmas Party and have a sign up genius link below if you would like to be a part of this! Thanks so much!

CHRISTMAS Party:

Our class Christmas party will be the Friday before break.

Please have your child bring in his/her "boy" or "girl" gift on Friday, December 16.

We ask that each boy come with one wrapped "To: A boy, From: _______" labeled gift, and each girl come with one wrapped "To: A girl, from _______" labeled gift. These will be used as a part of games and activities at the class Christmas party. Please limit the value of these gifts to $3 only. Even though you may be able to find a great deal on a higher priced item for only $3, it helps us avoid some difficulty if the value of each item is actually $3. It is not a requirement to participate in the gift exchange part of the party if you would rather not participate.

Parent Board Christmas Lunch:
On December 14, staff will have the opportunity to gather together for a Christmas Luncheon. In order for this to happen, we would like some volunteers. I have a parent to cover lunch with the kids for that day. Thank you!! If you're willing to bundle up and cover recess duty, please sign up to reserve your spot! Thank you for your help in making this special time work for our staff!

Discover South Side

Do you or any of your friends or extended family have a prospective preschooler or kindergartener? Are you looking into options for the 2023-2024 school year? We’ll be having our Discovery Night on January 10th from 6-7pm, and we’d love to have you come and explore South Side’s preschool and kindergarten programs! Since we prepare individually for each family visiting this Discovery Night, an RSVP is required.

If you are unable to make it to Discovery Night, you are still welcome to visit Holland Christian Schools in person and see things in action for yourself. Feel free to schedule a campus tour through our Admissions Department at admissions@hollandchristian.org or 616.820.2806. You can begin by filling out our INQUIRY FORM. Enrollment for the 2023-24 school year begins on February 1, 2023.

Christmas Service Project:

With Christmas approaching, we are excited to take part in a school wide giving project! We are partnering with Hand2Hand Ministries to put together Snack Packs. Our class is in charge of bringing in individually packaged trail mix.  We will be collecting these items on tables in the hallway by the gym from December 5-13, and we will hold our packing day on Wednesday, December 14. See the green paper in today's Take Home Folder for more information.

Book orders:

Book order sheets went home just before Thanksgiving. Just a reminder that today is the last day to get your order in for these. If you would like to order for Christmas and keep your order a secret I'd be happy to help with that! Thanks!

Lost and Found

Please take a minute to look at our South Side Lost and Found Photo Album to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email Jenna (jritsema@hollandchristian.orgor Pat (pmeiste@hollandchristian.org) to claim your items, and we will be sure to get it in your child's backpack. These items will be donated if not claimed by Christmas Break.

Also, please be sure to bring your child’s snow stuff to school everyday, or leave an extra set at school. In Michigan the weather can change quickly, and we want to make sure your child is warm and comfortable in their outdoor play! Our office has a limited supply of items.
