I hope everyone enjoyed the surprise snow day on Tuesday! It sounded like the kids had lots of fun getting outside to build forts and towns, playing with siblings, and going sledding! Kids sure help us appreciate all the seasons, don't they?! We have another fun week ahead next week with Pajama Day on Wednesday and we can't wait to celebrate God's faithfulness with 100's Day.

Homework:

We will stick with the usual.

New reading slips and math homework will come home on Monday, January 31. Please return them the following Monday.

New Bible Memory will come home in the Homework Folder on Monday, January 31 for the month of February. Thanks so much for working on Psalm 1.

Jungle Explorer of the Week: 

Sophia was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with the class. We enjoyed getting to know more about you and that you love playing soccer, Playmobil, reading, and writing, and your favorite food is brussel sprouts. Your favorite place is Disney World and you want to be a veterinarian  when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Sophia, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

Sight Words:

Please make sure to go back and practice words that your child has had trouble with in the past. Sight word test on Feb. 4

Friday Praise Piano Players Needed~  We've been excited to be gathering again on Friday mornings for a time of praise.  It fills our hearts to hear the children's voices singing praises to God.  We have some holes in our schedule for piano players during the months of February, March, and April.  If you are able to help us out in this area, please call the SS office for available dates. Our Friday praise time is from 8:20-8:50am.

WACKY WEDNESDAYS: 

We'll have had some fun themed Wednesdays in January/February to spice up these wintery days. Last one next week!

The day will be as follows:  

Feb. 2  -Pajama Day

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL:

Wednesday, February 9 (if we have no more snow days) will be our 100th day of school! Where has the time gone? We are looking forward to celebrating 100 days of God's faithfulness together! We have lots of fun activities planned, and one of them is dressing like we are 100 years old! (No wheelchairs or walkers though, our classroom just isn't big enough!) Don't feel like you need to go buy things...just get creative with this! We wanted to give you a heads up so you can start raiding your Grandma's closets for some fun ideas!

CEREAL: 

Another thing we need you to have your child do is count out 100 pieces of their favorite cereal and bring it in a baggie with your child's name on it by Friday, February 4. We'll provide the bowls, milk and spoons and we'll be having a hundred's day breakfast together on our special day! Your child might need to eat a little at home too--100 pieces is not as much as you'd think! :)

VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY:

We are going to celebrate Valentine's Day with a small party on Friday, Feb. 14. If your child would like to bring cards to pass out, there was a class list in last week's Friday Folder on pink paper. If you choose to fill out cards be sure to do it for the whole class OR all of the students with the same gender as your child so we don't have any hurt feelings. Candy/treats are also ok as long as they are packaged things. Thanks!

Reading Blizzard:
The 2nd graders love to celebrate reading! One way that we will do that this year is by having a "READING BLIZZARD" during the school day on Wednesday, February 16. The students will come to school in their pajamas, and they may also bring a pillow, blanket, and a stuffed animal. We will spend a large part of the day reading, hearing stories from special guests, enjoying pizza together, and doing a variety of other fun reading/blizzard themed things!
