Welcome back!

Welcome back everybody! I hope all of you had a wonderful and relaxing break, and that you also had some special moments to reflect on our Lord Jesus Christ and his amazing gift to us! It feels great to be back learning and growing with your child at school! What a crazy week with all the snow days! I hope all of you stayed warm and cozy and enjoyed some fun family time together!

HOMEWORK:
Next week we'll stick with the usual:
*Purple Reading Slip and Math homework will be due Monday. New homework will be sent home on Monday, Jan. 10 and due back Tuesday, Jan. 18, and the new Homework pages will come home on that Tues. because of no school on the 17th.
*Psalm 1. Please keep practicing this with your child when you have time.

SUBTRACTION:
We just started double digit subtraction, and we are easing our way into it this week. If you find some spare time, give your child a few extra problems at home and see how they're doing. We'll get lots of practice--we learned a lot of strategies, but are really zoning in on the one you'd choose---"borrowing" or "ungrouping" from "next door" if needed. Using base 10 blocks and expanded form. Anyone who is still on addition for their math homework will be switching to subtraction after the report cards come. We will switch to everyone doing subtraction on Jan.24.

WORDS OF THE WEEK:
Thanks for helping your child practice these words at home: does, friend, enough, should, you're, through, ready, might, suddenly
Please make sure to go back and practice words that your child has had trouble with in the past. We'll do these words next week: beautiful, special, couldn't.
