Chapel
A great class! They did a great job on their play! |
I hope all of you had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend! These short weeks go so fast. We had fun this week celebrating and remembering Martin Luther King Jr. and his accomplishments. The students did a fabulous job leading chapel on Wednesday!! I was so proud of them! Can you believe it? Our first semester is complete, and next week we will be celebrating our 90th day together! 100's day is right around the corner!
Homework:
*Current reading and math pages are due Monday, January 23.
*On Monday, a new reading slip and math page will come home, and they will be due Monday, January 30. We be starting our subtraction pages.
*Keep Practicing Psalm 1 together at home.
REPORT CARDS:
Report cards are available to view today! Please take some time to look through this with your child and celebrate their growth and talk about how to work through their challenges. Remember that these standards are end of the year goals, so we all have areas where we can keep on growing and challenging ourselves.
WORDS OF THE WEEK:
Thanks for helping your child practice these words at home: does, friend, enough, should, you're, through, ready, might, suddenly.
Please make sure to go back and practice words that your child has had trouble with in the past. Our words for this week: couldn't, beautiful, special
100TH DAY OF SCHOOL:
Monday, February 6 (if we have no more snow days) will be our 100th day of school! Where has the time gone? We are looking forward to celebrating 100 days of God's faithfulness together! We have lots of fun activities planned, and one of them is dressing like we are 100 years old! (No wheelchairs or walkers though, our classroom just isn't big enough!) Don't feel like you need to go buy things...just get creative with this! We wanted to give you a heads up so you can start raiding your Grandma's closets for some fun ideas!
CEREAL:
Another thing we need you to have your child do is count out 100 pieces of their favorite cereal and bring it in a baggie with your child's name on it by Friday, February 3. We'll provide the bowls, milk and spoons and we'll be having a hundred's day breakfast together on our special day! Your child might need to eat a little at home too--100 pieces is not as much as you'd think! :)
VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY:
We are going to celebrate Valentine's Day with a small party on Tuesday, Feb. 14. If your child would like to bring cards to pass out, there is a class list in today's Friday folder on pink paper. If you choose to fill out cards be sure to do it for the whole class OR all of the students with the same gender as your child so we don't have any hurt feelings. Thanks!
