Tulip Time 2023

We had lots of fun marching together as a class in the Tulip Time parade! Thanks for helping us get your kiddos ready to go...they did a great job! So much fun to celebrate part or our heritage and to celebrate community! The kids did such a fabulous job! Check out pictures at the end of the blog!

HOMEWORK:

Reading slips and math papers are due on Monday May 15.

Our final Math Homework page and final purple Reading slip will be coming home on Monday. They will be due May 22!

Our words of the week test will be May 17!

FIELD TRIPS:

We will be going on a field trip on Tuesday, May 23. We will leave school at 9:10 am, we will tour the Cappon House and Settlers House, and eat lunch in the park to name a few things! We will arrive back to school around 1:15pm. Students will need to bring a sack lunch or home lunch this day!

I am waiting on confirmation for a field trip to John Ball Zoo and as soon as I hear from them i will let you know details. We received a letter from the zoo in response to an opinion letter Marina wrote to the zoo. She loved the zoo and they loved her letter and sent our class passes to go to the zoo for free! So fun!

Jungle Explorer:

Carter was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with the class. We enjoyed getting to know more about you! We learned that you like to play/good at riding your quad and playing football. Your favorite food is pizza. Your favorite place is Florida and you want to be a football player when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Carter, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

FIELD DAY:

Field day this year is going to be held on the afternoon of May 25. (Rain date May 30) Please send along water bottles for your children, dress for the weather, slather on sunscreen, and pray for a nice day!

MOVIN' UP DAY:

Thursday, June 1 will be a special day in 2nd grade. It's MOVING UP DAY! This means that your child will get an opportunity to visit Pine Ridge, meet next year's 3rd grade teacher, and go on a school tour. This has always been a great experience in the past, and it helps settle the nervous butterflies that students may have about the changes to a new building. I'm sure you'll hear lots of great stories about the students' visit!

LIBRARY BOOKS:

All books were due today. Please double check your child has returned all their books.

END OF THE YEAR CHAPEL:

Mark your calendars! You won't want to miss this! On the last day of school, June 2, we will have a special "goodbye" chapel for the 2nd graders at 10:30. This a beautiful time where we come together as students, teachers and parents and thank God for the gift of South Side and ask His blessing on the 2nd graders as they move on to Pine Ridge! It's a touching and VERY memorable chapel! Try to make it if you can and bring the tissues! We will be outside so take your lawn chairs along!

Dismissal will shortly follow this at 11:30.
