Thankfulness

 

Heaven. God. Stars. Family. Bible. Jesus. Friends. Teachers. A warm house. Sunsets. My grandparents. My dog. My Mom. My Dad. School. The beach. The sun. Snow. Fall.

These are a few of the things that have spilled out of your child's heart as we have been reflecting on having a thankful heart over the last few weeks in our Gratitude Journals. God is SO good, isn't He?! It is truly a blessing having the opportunity to partner with you each day. Thanks for your love, support, and prayers for our classroom. I am thankful for YOU, for your investment in sending your child to HC each day, and for partnering with me to help your little grow to know and love Jesus. 





SHORT WEEK AHEAD:
We have a short week coming up! As a result, there will be no math homework or purple reading slip coming home next week. Continue to spend time enjoying books over break, but no formal homework will be collected. We have full days Monday and Tuesday, and no school Wednesday through Friday. Our current reading slip and math homework page are both due on Monday, November 20. 

Book orders were sent home this week and are due on Nov. 29.

BIBLE MEMORY: 
Continue to practice Psalm 100. This is a special Thanksgiving scripture passage--see if your child is willing to recite it for your family next week for Thanksgiving! 

WORDS OF THE WEEK:
Our words from this set are: often, such, best, think, family, never, house, wait, same, ask, again, each, begin, goes, together.
We will have our next Spelling Test on these 15 words after break so keep practicing!


Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Westin was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! You are good at football and art, your favorite place is Disney World, and your favorite food is macaroni and cheese! We excited that you want to work for the space force when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Westin, and we loved learning more about you!


Field Trip:
We will be heading to Sassafras Ridge on Dec.1 for a class trip with the other 2nd graders.

Book Fair 
Pine Ridge Book Fair will run December 4-7 and we are in need of parent volunteers to staff the times that are open for shopping! Interested in helping at the Book Fair? Please check out the link below:
The Book Fair will be open in the Pine Ridge Library for families to shop Wednesday, December 6  2:00-4:00pm and Thursday, December 7  3:00-6:00pm
 We appreciate your support of the book fair which supplies the funds for the library!

Save the Date-January 30 from 6-8 pm. -South Side and Pine Ridge Skating Party!

Lost and Found:

Our Lost and Found is growing! Please check the South Side Lost and Found Photo Album  to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email the secretary, Rachel, to claim your item(s), and we will be sure to get it in your child’s backpack.

Maroon and White Shop:

The Maroon and White Shop will be open every Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 - 11:30am and Fridays from 8:00am - 3:00pm.  Stop by our store in the high school to browse or begin your holiday shopping!

The most wonderful time of the year! It is, isn't it? We continue the hustle and bustle of all the things we need to get done at home and school, and it seems so crazy! We plan and plan and plan! Grandparents/Friends

We had a fun visit from the 8th grade orchestra kids today! They played some songs for us and let the 2nd graders get up close to the instruments! They showed the 2nd graders how to play their instruments and then the 2nd graders played a song! Super fun! Look for pictures of this at the end of the blog. We had a super fun time with our grandparents/friends on Thursday! What a pleasure to see the beautiful connection between the generations! So much love to go around! The kids had so much fun being with them and singing for them!   Homework: Homework Folders came home on Monday, Oct. 7 and the work inside is due on Oct. 14.  *Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.   Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.
