Christmas isn't about "hoping" for certain gifts and presents, but about a promised hope in our Savior. Our God always keeps His promises, and He is faithful! What a comfort that is! As a class we are taking time to slow down, and to reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness.  We have started to work through our Wandering Wisemen devotional each day and are gaining a better understanding of what Christmas is all about---Jesus!

Check out the end of the blog for some pictures of our trip to Sassafras Ridge and we performed our Reader's theaters to the preschool kids this past Tuesday!

*Library books are due Monday.

BIBLE MEMORY:

Bible Memory is coming home today. Please work on it this month--it's the Christmas Story! We are practicing it daily at school, but please try to review it at home as well. Use it for devotions and other special occasions to reflect on this amazing story!

Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Hattie was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with our class. We enjoyed getting to know you and learning that you love sleepovers at the cottage and coloring. Your favorite place is Disney World, and your favorite food is pizza! We love that you want to be a artist when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Hattie, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

WORDS OF THE WEEK:

Thanks for helping your child practice their words at home!

We'll start our new batch next week with: does, friend, enough

There is a blue half sheet coming home in your child's Homework folder on Monday so you can remember to practice these words at home too.

Christmas Around the World:

The 2nd grade classes are going to learn about how other countries celebrate this time of year and we could use lots of clean empty toilet paper tubes for one of our crafts! If you have some at home or get some in the next couple of weeks please send them to school! We will be doing this in centers in the gym on Dec. 14 with both classes.

We could also use some volunteers and some other donations if you're able to help out! Check out the link for available slots!

CHRISTMAS Party:

Our class Christmas party will be the Thursday(Dec. 21) before break.

Please have your child bring in his/her "boy" or "girl" gift on Thursday, December 21.

We ask that each boy come with one wrapped "To: A boy, From: _______" labeled gift, and each girl come with one wrapped "To: A girl, from _______" labeled gift. These will be used as a part of games and activities at the class Christmas party. Please limit the value of these gifts to $3 only. Even though you may be able to find a great deal on a higher priced item for only $3, it helps us avoid some difficulty if the value of each item is actually $3. It is not a requirement to participate in the gift exchange part of the party if you would rather not participate.
