This week we kept working our way through our Wandering Wisemen devotional. We learned about about the connections and things God put in place 100's of years before Jesus birth. For example- Daniel was put in charge during captivity and he taught the 'wisemen' at that time about the scriptures and the prophecies about Jesus. These men taught the next generations, on and on until Jesus was born. So the wisemen who came knew the prophecies well and were looking for a sign. We talked about how God is always working to make sure His people know about Him and can learn about Him whether it's through people or his creation. We continue to wait his arrival like the Jewish people and the Wisemen who were looking for his star in the sky! 

HOMEWORK:

Next week we'll stick with the usual: *Purple Reading Slip and Math homework will be due Monday. New pages will come home on Monday(Dec. 11) and be due Monday, December 18.

*Library books are due Monday.

*Blue half sheet coming home Monday with 3 words from our 3rd set.

                                                  Jungle Explorer of the Week:

Austin was our special Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with our class. We enjoyed getting to know you and learning that you love crafts and football, and playing football. Your favorite place is Tennessee, and your favorite food is butter noodles! We love that you want to be a football player when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Austin, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

Christmas Around the World:

The 2nd grade classes are going to learn about how other countries celebrate this time of year and we could use lots of clean empty toilet paper tubes for one of our crafts! If you have some at home, please send them to school! We will be doing this in centers in the gym on Dec. 14 with both classes.

We could also use a couple more volunteers and some other donations if you're able to help out! Check out the link for available slots!

CHRISTMAS Party:

Our class Christmas party will be the Thursday(Dec. 21) before break. 

Please have your child bring in his/her "boy" or "girl" gift on Thursday, December 21.

We ask that each boy come with one wrapped "To: A boy, From: _______" labeled gift, and each girl come with one wrapped "To: A girl, from _______" labeled gift. These will be used as a part of games and activities at the class Christmas party. Please limit the value of these gifts to $3 only. Even though you may be able to find a great deal on a higher priced item for only $3, it helps us avoid some difficulty if the value of each item is actually $3. It is not a requirement to participate in the gift exchange part of the party if you would rather not participate.

The most wonderful time of the year! It is, isn't it? We continue the hustle and bustle of all the things we need to get done at home and school, and it seems so crazy! We plan and plan and plan! Grandparents/Friends

We had a fun visit from the 8th grade orchestra kids today! They played some songs for us and let the 2nd graders get up close to the instruments! They showed the 2nd graders how to play their instruments and then the 2nd graders played a song! Super fun! Look for pictures of this at the end of the blog. We had a super fun time with our grandparents/friends on Thursday! What a pleasure to see the beautiful connection between the generations! So much love to go around! The kids had so much fun being with them and singing for them!   Homework: Homework Folders came home on Monday, Oct. 7 and the work inside is due on Oct. 14.  *Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.   Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.
