Pumpkin Day

Thank you for sharing your child with me again this week! Each new day with your child's smiling face is a blessing, and I love seeing their passion and joy for learning while exploring God's creation. This week we starting writing some new stories in writing and read accurately, fluently, and with expression in reading! We celebrated Pumpkin Day and we had so much fun! Thanks to all the parents who helped make it a huge success!

Homework:

Homework Folders came home on Monday, Oct. 28 and the work inside is due on Nov. 4.
*Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.
Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.

November's  Bible memory will come home in the Homework Folder on Monday. It will be Psalm 100.

Library books due on Wednesdays!

Sight Words:
We have been working on our new Phonics curriculum for the last several weeks. Our sight words are called Red Words and we will start with a list of 15 words for kids to know how to spell correctly. Starting next week Monday,- 3 words will be sent home each week on a blue half sheet of paper in your child's Homework Folder. Each week we will add to the list of words with 3 new words until we reach 15 words. Once we finish with the 15 words we will have a test on these 15 words. 3 words a week is not a lot to practice, which breaks up the words into smaller chunks for kids to work on. Each student has different levels of ability to write words correctly so please spend time working on the words your child needs the most help with. I have included a note with some ideas for practicing the words each week. Feel free to use the ones that work for you!

Jungle  Explorer of the Week:
Lane was our Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with our class! We enjoyed getting to know you and learning that you like playing soccer, and your favorite food is macaroni and cheese! Your favorite place to be is Disney World! We love that you want to be waiter(in your brother's restaurant) when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Lane, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

Field Tirp:
K-2 classes are going to the Herrick Library on Nov. 6. We will be using the STEM room to watch an artist and we will be checking out the children's part of the library!

Needed:
Our class is in need of toilet paper tubes! We will need them in Dec. for an upcoming project. If you are willing to collect them and send them in that would be great!
