2nd graders are full of wonder! We have been learning abut seeds and what a plant needs! God has created some amazing plants and they are so unique and special just like each of the students in my class! We have had fun learning about some cool plants and we started some investigations into what plants need! We had a great time at the ODC and learned about how seeds move from place to place! We have been observing our plants at school and taking notes to keep track of how they are growing!

Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Ophelia was our Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with the class. We enjoyed getting to know more about you! We learned that you like soccer. Your favorite food is pizza. Your favorite place is Holland and you want to be a Artist when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Ophelia, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!
Author Visit:
We are having a fun author visit on Sept. 22 from Laura Sassi! She will read to the students at South Side and sign books for the kids!
Walkathon:
What is Walkathon? Walkathon is an HC-wide fundraiser where elementary students walk to raise money for their school. The funds raised by South Side students go directly to South Side needs. These needs include classroom supplies, educational outings, and other resources. Parents are welcome to watch the event from the bleachers, while the track is reserved for teachers and students.
Lost and Found
The office is continuing to update our South Side Lost and Found Album as items come into the gray tub in the office. Please check it out to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email Rachel Steen, to claim your item(s), and we will be sure to get it into your child’s backpack.
