Walk-a-thon '25

We are in awe of God's faithfulness to His people despite their unfaithfulness to Him. What a beautiful reminder that our God who changes the seasons also holds each of us gently in His hands.  In Bible we saw God's amazing patience with His people and even though they went into captivity, He still promised them he would be with them and they would have the promise of the Messiah! 

We had a great time at the Walk-a-thon! Thanks to all the parents who helped out to make it a huge success! 


Homework:

 Homework Folders will come home again on Monday, Sept. 29,  and the work inside will be due the following Monday, Oct. 6. 

Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.  
Math papers- time each half and see how many correct.  The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.
Next 3 words of the week on the blue half slip.

Friday Folders come back to school on Monday!
Keep practicing Psalm 8, we have been learning the first 8 verses at school.

Jungle Explorer of the Week:
Avilio was our Jungle Explorer of the Week! Thanks for sharing your poster and pictures with the class. We enjoyed getting to know more about you! We learned that you like soccer and math. Your favorite food is mozzarella sticks. Your favorite place is the movie theater and you want to be a Business Owner when you grow up! You are so special to God and to us, Avilio, and we loved getting to know more about you this week!

Lost and Found
The office is continuing to update our South Side Lost and Found Album as items come into the gray tub in the office. Please check it out to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email Rachel Steen, to claim your item(s), and we will be sure to get it into your child’s backpack.

Thank you!  I am so thankful for your love and support during this year! Your encouragement has blessed me so much...thank you. Thanks too, for entrusting your children under my care...they have been a joy to teach! This will be the last blog update for the school year! We will have a special end of the year Chapel to send off our 2nd graders on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 4. Come gather with us from 10:25-11:15am for a time of worship together. We’ll be out on the playground, so bring a lawn chair if you’d like (if there’s rain we’ll move it to the gym).  After chapel, Preschool students will be dismissed, and K-2 students will have a quick 15 minutes to close out the year in the classrooms with their teacher, and their dismissal will follow at 11:30am. Kid Town in the Gym

Happy Friday! What a fantastic week we have had in second grade! Kid Town has been a success and the students have enjoyed it immensely! We have seen wonderful examples of generous spirits and students who are polite and caring business boys/girls, and they have also been wonderful shoppers with a lot of patience. They have had a ton of fun learning about businesses and economics! Thanks so much to all the parent helpers who came in and were a banker so kids could get paid, glued items together, helped with ideas, ran stores, and helped us pack things up!! We could not have done it without all of you!!!! Your support is appreciated and we are so thankful for the wonderful, supportive community here at South Side!   Gathered for National Day of Prayer! What a great week in 2nd grade! We have been working hard on our Conference packets and getting ready for meeting with our parents. What a blessing to see the students grow this year and it was so fun to see them share in the celebration of learning! Homework: Monday, March 24  a new reading slip and math homework page will come home and be due- March 31.  *Matthew 28. Please practice this beautiful passage as a family! *Look for the blue paper in your child's Homework Folder   with our sight words!
