We have lots going on in each subject area, and have enjoyed learning about God and learning about how to live a life full of wisdom from James in Bible. Students have worked hard on remembering the routines this week again. We needed some review after the long weekend.
Homework:
Homework Folders will come home on Monday, Sept. 14, and the work inside will be due the following Monday, Sept. 21.
Reminder- 100 minutes for Reading. This can be your child reading on his/her own OR you and your child taking turns.
Math papers- time each half and see how many correct. The goal is to get faster at our facts each time.
3 words of the week on the blue half slip. Practice the ones your child needs to work on.
Psalm 8 is in the folder. Use for devotions or Bible reading time at home. This is for you to keep at home.

Field Trip:
We will be heading to Sassafras Ridge on Sept. 17. We will be going for the morning. Please have your child dress for the weather.
Walkathon:
What is Walkathon? Walkathon is an HC-wide fundraiser where elementary students walk to raise money for their school. The funds raised by South Side students go directly to South Side needs. These needs include classroom supplies, educational outings, and other resources. Parents are welcome to watch the event from the bleachers, while the track is reserved for teachers and students.

Lost and Found
We are starting to get a few lost and found items. Please check our South Side Lost and Found Album to see if any of these items belong to your child. Feel free to email Rachel Steen, to claim your item(s), and we will be sure to get it into your child’s backpack.

Balance Bikes:
We have a set of balance bikes that students may use on the playground. Each grade level has been assigned a day of the week. Our day is Friday. If students want to ride these at recess they must have a helmet at school.
