Week 2

Another great week! What a blessing the cooler temperatures are for learning! Enjoy you long weekend!

 Here is what you need to know!


Homework:
Your child's Homework Folder will be coming home on Tuesday, Sept. 2. (it comes home on Mondays but is different to start because of Labor Day).
Inside will be- Math Homework, Purple Reading Slip, and the first set of spelling words. Math Homework and Reading Slip will be due back on Monday, Sept. 8.

Friday Folders come back on Monday!

Lunch Helpers:
Sign up genius attached if you are able to help out and come in Wednesdays!

Batons:
Please return your child's baton ASAP if you have not already done so. Thanks!

Author Visit:
We are having a fun author visit on Sept. 22 from Laura Sassi! She will read to the students at South Side and sign books for the kids! If you would like to order one of her books for when she comes to South Side please fill it out  the order if you want her book and return it by Sept. 3!

Sassafras Ridge:
The 2nd grade classes and the 1st grade class will spend some time at Sassafras Ridge on Friday Sept. 5. Students will need to dress for the weather and bring a lunch from home!

Outdoor Discovery Center:
The 2nd grade classes will head to the ODC for a field trip. We will have a session on plants and how they move and learn about some animals. Students will need a lunch from home as we will eat there.

Sept. 5: Sassafras Ridge- Need a lunch from home
Sept. 8: Math Homework and Purple Reading Slip due
Sept. 15: Outdoor Discovery Center- need a lunch from home

Thank you!  I am so thankful for your love and support during this year! Your encouragement has blessed me so much...thank you. Thanks too, for entrusting your children under my care...they have been a joy to teach! This will be the last blog update for the school year! We will have a special end of the year Chapel to send off our 2nd graders on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 4. Come gather with us from 10:25-11:15am for a time of worship together. We’ll be out on the playground, so bring a lawn chair if you’d like (if there’s rain we’ll move it to the gym).  After chapel, Preschool students will be dismissed, and K-2 students will have a quick 15 minutes to close out the year in the classrooms with their teacher, and their dismissal will follow at 11:30am. Kid Town in the Gym

Happy Friday! What a fantastic week we have had in second grade! Kid Town has been a success and the students have enjoyed it immensely! We have seen wonderful examples of generous spirits and students who are polite and caring business boys/girls, and they have also been wonderful shoppers with a lot of patience. They have had a ton of fun learning about businesses and economics! Thanks so much to all the parent helpers who came in and were a banker so kids could get paid, glued items together, helped with ideas, ran stores, and helped us pack things up!! What a great week in 2nd grade! We have been working hard on our Conference packets and getting ready for meeting with our parents. What a blessing to see the students grow this year and it was so fun to see them share in the celebration of learning! Homework: Monday, March 24  a new reading slip and math homework page will come home and be due- March 31.  *Matthew 28. Please practice this beautiful passage as a family! *Look for the blue paper in your child's Homework Folder   with our sight words!
